This is a picture of Robert Mattson, grandfather to one of Woodman’s owners, as a newspaper delivery boy in Quincy, Massachusetts. Shortly after this picture was taken, Robert’s father died and his mother was unable to take care of him.

Winfred Woodman and her husband took Robert into their home and raised him as a son. Woodman’s is named in honor of Winfred Woodman’s kindness and generosity.

As a tribute to Winfred’s selflessness and commitment to others, Woodman’s developed the Good Citizen Award. Every month Woodman’s accepts nominations for a community member that has shown kindness and compassion for humanity. The winner of the Good Citizen Award receives a complimentary dinner in appreciation for their benevolence.
